FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Facing a winless squad from Greensboro College on Saturday, the Methodist men's soccer team took care of business in a 6-1 landslide victory. With the win, the Monarchs were crowned as the 2023 USA South Athletic Conference regular-season champions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Hudson Zeisman got the scoring started for the Monarchs, handling a pass from Kaleb Thomas that arched over the defense before sending the ball in for a goal just before the 13' mark.
- Joshua Mott was next to strike net, sending the ball soaring past the Greensboro goalkeeper to extend Methodist's lead in the 29th minute. Nearing halftime, Sean Laney put the Monarchs ahead by three goals with a score in the 38th minute.
- Five minutes into the second half, the Monarchs were able to penetrate the Greensboro defense once again as Steven Floyd dribbled past the Pride. As he neared the goal, he passed the ball to Casey Atwell, who scored the fourth goal of the contest.
- Methodist was awarded a penalty kick in the 60th minute, and the Monarchs elected to have senior Caleb Allen attempt the shot. He produced a goal with ease, marking the team's fifth score.
- In the 70th minute, Carson Stretz connected with Harrison Broome for the sixth and final score for the Monarchs. Methodist conceded one goal in the 74th minute, which was one of just three shots on goal recorded by Greensboro all match.
NUMBERS
- Trey Gohr played 64 minutes in goal for the Monarchs, recording one save while giving up no goals.
- The Monarchs wrapped up the regular season having allowed just four goals in seven matches against USA South opponents.

Methodist has earned the No. 1 seed in the USA South tournament, granting the team a first-round bye. The Monarchs will host their next match (in the semifinal round) on Thursday, Nov. 2.
