FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist baseball team captured its seventh consecutive victory on Sunday, defeating Nichols College in the final game of the Methodist Baseball Invitational. The Monarchs broke a tie in the bottom of the seventh inning, leading to a 10-6 triumph over the Bison.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nichols struck early, scoring one run in the top of the first that was then quickly matched by Methodist in the bottom of the inning. The Bison led off the second inning with a solo homerun to take a 2-1 advantage.
- The Bison added to their lead in the top of the fourth as they batted around another run. In the bottom of the inning, Methodist's Charles Jordan doubled down the left field line to bring home a run, followed by a sac fly by Justin Blunt to score one more, tying the game at 3-3.
- Jacob Austin and Wesley Hall teamed up for a pair of doubles in the fifth inning, bringing around two runs for Methodist, but Nichols answered in the sixth with two more runs of its own.
- Ian Bingham pitched a clean seventh inning for Methodist, and the Monarch bats got hot. A single for Rob Wilkerson brought home a run, followed by a sac fly for Hall that scored another. Gavin Wheeler joined in with a single to right field, which batted in a third run for the home team.
- The Bison added one more run to their total in the eighth, but Jackson Deal's triple in the bottom of the inning brought around a ninth run for Methodist. Deal scored on a fielding error during the next at-bat to widen the gap to four runs, which would hold until the final out.

- Ian Bingham allowed no earned runs during his 1.2 innings of work to be credited with the win. He faced seven batters, forcing four to fly out and one to ground out.
- The Bison recorded 17 hits to Methodist's 12, but left 11 runners on base compared to just 4 left on base by the Monarchs.
- Jackson Deal scored a team-high four runs, boosting him to 14 runs scored through seven games.
