HOW IT HAPPENED
- The three highest position Methodist golfers following day one are Cooper Hrabak, Aiden Spampinato and Cameron Cappuzzo, who each posted a one-over par 73. The trio are all in a tie for 24th overall.
- Hrabak opened the round with a birdie before double bogeying three holes later. He finished up the front nine with a bogey and another birdie to put him one-over before collecting another bogey & birdie on the back nine.
- Spampinato would birdie and bogey on first two holes of the day and then added an additional bogey to complete his first nine. A pretty clean second half of the course with a birdie, a bogey, and seven pars.
- Cappuzzo recorded 15 pars, two bogeys, and a birdie on his card with his first trip around the course.
- In a tie for 82nd place, Chase Walts posted a five-over par 77. Some struggles on the front half as he bogeyed three times and double bogey once. It did not look good when he began his back nine as he bogeyed two of his first three holes. After making a birdie and a bogey heading into his last hole of the day, Walts ended on a high note with an eagle on a par five.
- Jonny Lewis carded a six-over par 78, which lands him in a tie for 96th, when his round came to a close. His only blemish through the first nine holes was a double bogey. He started out the back half with a birdie to bring him one-over but then a double bogey and three bogeys was how he ended his day.
