ASHLAND, Va. The Methodist baseball team suffered its fourth loss of the season on Tuesday, falling in a road contest against Randolph-Macon College. The 13th-ranked Yellow Jackets beat the 18th-ranked Monarchs 8-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Monarchs were held scoreless in the top of the first, Ian Bingham took the mound in the bottom of the inning, facing just three batters for a clean frame. Methodist allowed just one run in the second inning before giving up three more in the third – two of which came on a two-run homer.
- The Monarchs produced no offense to counter the home team, recording just four hits in the first six innings. In the bottom of the sixth, the Yellow Jackets extended their lead with their second three-run inning on the day.
- Methodist finally put a run on the board in the top of the eighth. Gavin Wheeler led off the inning with a single, followed by a Hunter Hollman double that moved Wheeler to third. Caleb Rogers flied out to right field, which was enough to score one. It would be Methodist's only run of the contest.
- Randolph-Macon added one more run to its total in the bottom of the eighth, making the final difference seven runs.
STAT FACTS
- Methodist batters struck out a season-high twelve times.
- Hunter Hollman led the Monarchs in offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and the team's only walk. He and Banks Engle were the only Monarchs to record a multi-hit day.
- The Monarchs threw six pitchers across eight innings. Brandon Humphreys and Brice Herring both tossed one scoreless inning each, while Kyle Molivas pitched 1.1 innings and allowed no runs to score.
