FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist men's lacrosse team dropped a game to Otterbein University on Tuesday, falling to the Cardinals 11-2. The Monarch offense was largely held at bay and was unable to keep up with the Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

It was all Otterbein in the first quarter as the Cardinals scored four unanswered goals. Methodist recorded just one shot on goal during the period compared to Otterbein's nine. The Monarchs also amassed nine first-quarter turnovers.

The Cardinals didn't let up, scoring the first two goals of the second quarter to extend their lead to 6-0 before Ryan Kavounis got the Monarchs on the board with less than seven minutes remaining in the half. Otterbein found the back of the net once more before the end of the period, taking a 7-1 lead into halftime.

The Monarchs held the Cardinals to just four shots on goal in the third quarter, allowing them to add just one goal to their total. Methodist also recorded 11 ground balls in the third period while Otterbein tallied just six.

RJ Breeden picked up Methodist's second goal of the contest with fellow freshman Jacob Burnette assisting on the score. The Cardinals went on to score three more goals before the conclusion of the match to beat the Monarchs by nine.
