MOUNT BERRY, Ga. After conceding a goal in the first half of Saturday afternoon's contest, the Methodist men's soccer team found the right opportunity to even the score late in the second half, earning a 1-1 draw against the Birmingham-Southern Panthers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist's Christopher Shoffler fired the first shot of the contest but was off target. Birmingham-Southern attempted the next two shots, both of which were misfires as well. On the next try, the Panthers scored the first goal of the match, taking a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute.
- The Monarchs had two scoring opportunities nearing the end of the first half. Both Grant Strickler and Carson Stretz put shots on goal, but both shots were saved by the Birmingham-Southern goalkeeper.
- The Panthers placed a shot on goal in the 51st minute and the 53rd minute, but both shots were saved by Methodist goalkeeper Trey Gohr.
- In the 74th minute, Miller Davis connected with freshman Steven Floyd, who chipped in the equalizer. The Monarch defense allowed just one more shot over the final 15 minutes, preventing any more scores by the Panthers.
NUMBERS
- Steven Floyd's score marks his second goal of the season. He now leads the team in goals scored.
- For the fourth time in as many games, the Monarchs attempted more corner kicks than their opponent. Methodist took nine kicks from the corner compared to just two by Birmingham-Southern.
- The Monarchs are now 0-0-2 with Trey Gohr in goal.
