RALEIGH, N.C. Coming off a dominant win at home, the Methodist women's volleyball team hit the road once again to take on USA South opponent William Peace University for the first time this season. The Monarchs took care of business versus the Pacers, earning their 10th sweep of the season.
JUST THE FACTS
Final scores: Methodist def. William Peace, 3-0 (25-23, 28-26, 25-16)
Records: Methodist 18-4 (9-3 USA South), William Peace 12-12 (6-6 USA South)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With a blazing hot start, the Monarchs earned a 10–3 advantage in the first set, backed by two kills each from Carlyn Tanis, Jamie Holton and Savannah Hovander. Three kills by Railyn Fowler helped push Methodist to a 19–14 lead, but three consecutive points for the Pacers shrank the difference down to just two points.
- Methodist responded with a three–point run of its own, but William Peace rattled off six in a row to take the lead for the first time since leading 2–1, now up 23–22. Under pressure, Fowler and Holton notched back–to–back kills to help Methodist retake the lead, and an error by the home team gave the Monarchs their 25th point of the set.
- The Pacers were more efficient than the Monarchs in the second set, recording 18 kills with a .304 hitting percentage. However, Hannah Hewett, Jessie Gober, Blake O'Brien and Hovander all logged a service ace as the Monarchs willed their way to a 24–18 set point. For the second time on the night, William Peace put together six straight points, tying the set at 24–24. With Methodist up 27–26, Hewett set the ball for Tanis, who fired a strike that resulted in a much–needed kill.
- The Monarchs never trailed in the third set, playing their best ball to clinch the match. Hovander (6) and Holton (5) combined for 11 of the team's 17 kills, driving Methodist to a big victory in the final set.
