HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist won the first three points of the first set and possessed the lead up until Greensboro's set point. Freshmen Carlyn Tanis and Railyn Fowler combined for eight kills as the Monarchs reached a 24–21 advantage, but the Pride produced five straight points to take the set.
- Trading points back and forth, the Monarchs reached a 20–16 lead in the second set after a five–point run that included two kills by Jamie Holton, two kills by Jeanana Fowler, and a service ace by Jessie Gober. Seven of the next eight points fell in favor of Greensboro, prompting a Methodist timeout. Down by two, the Monarchs won five of the last six points - including back–to–back kills by Mahala Carter on the final two points - to claim the set.
- The third set was by far the worst for the Monarchs as the Pride charged ahead with a 10–2 lead. Methodist never challenged for the lead, finishing the set with a .100 hitting percentage.
- Keeping the Monarchs competitive in the fourth set, Savannah Hovander logged six of Methodist's first seven points via kill. With the score tied at 7–7, a five–point run for the Monarchs pushed them far enough in front to comfortably maintain an advantage and force a fifth set.
- After conceding the first point to Greensboro, Methodist made a statement by earning four points in a row. The Pride tied the score seven times in the fifth set but never captured the lead. With the score even at 14–14, Tanis recorded a kill to get the Monarchs to set point. On the final rally of the game, it was Jeanana Fowler who finished the job, finding open floor in the back left corner of the court to get the kill.
