Methodist Track & Field Begins 2024-25 Season at the Get Your Marks Field Meet

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.  On Saturday, a select number of field athletes from the Methodist University Track & Field team began its 2024-25 season at the Get Your Marks Field Meet.

TOP FIELD PERFORMANCES
  • Monarch newcomer Carland Jones, a sophomore, had a nice showing in his Methodist debut. He placed second in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters, and then he finished in the top 15 of the men's long jump, with 5.70m being his best leap.
  • Along with Jones, senior Komla Akogo took part in the high jump as well. His 1.85m jump got him a fifth-place finish.
  • In men's weight throw, senior E'Manuel Herbert and junior Shomare Hazley achieved new personal records. Herbert's furthest toss went 10.55m, while Hazley's longest throw traveled 10.17m, placing in 10th and 12th, respectively.
  • Senior Jordan Pecorella also PR'd in the weight throw event, but on the women's side. Her 9.85m performance earned her a sixth-place finish.
  • The duo of Treazure Rosario Watson, a junior, and Katena Morrison, a sophomore, participated in the women's triple jump for the first time in their collegiate careers, and they each placed inside the top 10. Rosario Watson's 10.36m jump got her fourth place, while Morrison earned ninth place after her 9.91m mark.

The entire Methodist track & field team will be in action three weeks from now at the CNU Holiday Open on Sunday, December 8.
