Methodist Saw Three Men's Soccer Players Obtain All-Conference Status

ROME, Ga.  On Monday, the USA South Athletic Conference released its 2024 All-Conference awards for men's soccer. Among the honorees, Methodist saw sophomore Steven Floyd named to the First Team while senior Casey Atwell and junior Matthew Manzano received Second Team accolades. Also representing the Monarchs on the league's All-Sportsmanship team is graduate student Cortez Herring.
 
Floyd, a forward from Swansboro, North Carolina, had an excellent second year in the Green & Gold. He picks up his first-ever post-season award after appearing in 16 matches, all starts. He led Methodist in goals (9), shots (42), and shots on goal (22). His nine goals this season were also the second-most scored in the conference.
 
Atwell, a midfielder from Oviedo, Florida, collects his second All-Conference nod of his career, a First Team selection in 2023. Appearing in 15 matches with 14 starts, he scored two goals and assisted on two others.
 
Manzano, a midfielder from West Palm Beach, Florida, repeats as a Second Team honoree in back-to-back seasons. A starter in 15 matches, he recorded a goal and two assists in 2024.
 
Atwell's and Manzano's experience & presence were also felt on the defensive side of the field, as they were part of a defense that registered six shutouts and limited opponents to four shots on target.
