GREENSBORO, N.C. After giving up an eight-goal run in the first half of Saturday's contest against Guilford, the Methodist men's lacrosse team was unable to come from behind against the Quakers, dropping the game 14-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist's Mark Chatt put the Monarchs up early, scoring the first goal of the match with 11:15 to go in the first quarter, then adding on another less than a minute later.
- Guilford scored six goals in just over seven minutes of game time to take a 6-2 lead into the second quarter. The Quakers continued their streak of unanswered goals by notching the first two scores of the second quarter. In the final four minutes of the half, Chatt assisted Cy Horner for Methodist's third goal before RJ Breeden tacked on a fourth score in the final minute.
- The Monarchs got a fast start to the third quarter as Kaleb Simpson won the initial faceoff and then went the distance for a score in the first 16 seconds. Five minutes later, Breeden assisted Nate Moore on a man-up opportunity to make the score 8-6. With Jackson Bulkin taking over in goal for the second half, the Monarchs conceded just two third-quarter goals – broken up by a Matt Bentz score for Methodist – but still trailed 10-7 entering the final period.
- Methodist was outscored 4-2 in the fourth quarter, with goals scored by Moore and Jacob Burnette.
