FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University men's lacrosse welcomed Edgewood College to Monarch Stadium on Wednesday, March 13, for a non-conference game. In the first-ever meeting between these two schools, the Monarchs came out on top and defeated the Eagles 16-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was all Methodist during the opening quarter of the contest, as the Monarchs registered the first six goals. Jacob Burnette tallied three of the scores while RJ Breeden, two, and Jesse Leyble, one, scored the others.
- Less than 30 seconds into the second period, Edgewood got on the scoreboard with its first goal of the game. Three consecutive goals by Ryan Kavounis followed by a score by Cy Horner then pushed the Methodist advantage up to 10-1.
- Out of halftime, the Monarchs continued their onslaught on the Eagles cage for six more goals. Horner found the back of the net himself on three separate occasions but none more important than his score at the 11:12 mark of the contest, his 100th point of his collegiate career.
- The fourth was the only quarter where Methodist were held scoreless, while Edgewood scored four goal.
FAST FACTS
- Horner becomes the 11th Monarch to eclipse 100 career points. He is also now among the top-10 point scorers in program history, sitting in tenth with 102.
- Burnette and Horner led the Methodist offense with four goals each, which is a career-high for Burnette. Not far behind them with three goals apiece were Breeden and Kavounis.
- Seeing time between the pipes for the Monarchs were Jackson Bulkin and Gabe Russell. Bulkin started and played the first 45 minutes, where he made 10 saves and only allowed one goal. Russell finished off the last 15 minutes and made four saves.
- During this three-game win streak for Methodist, the Monarchs have outscored their opponent 68 to 12.
