GREENSBORO, N.C. With a dominant showing against the Greensboro Pride, the Methodist men's lacrosse team picked up a win in its first USA South match of the season on Saturday. The Monarchs scored 23 goals while holding Greensboro to just four.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist put two quick scores on the board as Cy Horner and Matt Bentz each found the back of the net within the first two minutes of the game. Mark Chatt joined in with two scores before Bentz contributed two more (including one in the final seconds of the period) to give the Monarchs a 6-0 lead.
- The teams traded two goals each to start the second quarter before Methodist rattled off four straight scores. Nate Moore and Zach Crisafulli each notched their first score of the day before Jacob Burnette tacked on back-to-back goals.
- Scores by Ayden Kennedy, Ryan Kavounis and J.R. Newman put Methodist ahead 15-2 midway through the third quarter. Greensboro answered with a goal during a man-up opportunity, but the Monarchs responded with three more goals to end the period.
- The Monarchs outscored the Pride 5-1 in the final frame to finish with a 19-goal difference – the team's third largest margin of victory this season.
FAST FACTS
- Methodist outshot the Pride 58-27, and the Monarch defense held Greensboro to just nine shots on goal.
- Mark Chatt led the team with five goals and two assists – his third seven-point game of the season.
- Methodist's 23 goals are the most scored by either team in 11 all-time matchups with Greensboro. The four goals scored by the Pride mark the fewest scored by either team in those 11 meetings.
