FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. In an intense battle with LaGrange on the wet grass at Monarch Stadium, the Methodist men's lacrosse team secured its fifth-straight victory, defeating the Panthers 16-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- LaGrange struck first, netting a goal after five and a half minutes of scoreless play. Methodist's Kavounis answered with a score with 6:57 still left in the first quarter, but the Panthers almost immediately regained the lead less than a minute later. A goal by Ayden Kennedy (while Methodist was down a man) tied the game at 2-2.
- The Monarchs dominated the second quarter, outscoring LaGrange 8-2. Cy Horner and Kavounis combined for the team's first four goals of the period, then Jacob Burnette, RJ Breeden (twice) and Mark Chatt added to Methodist's total.
- Nate Moore scored the first goal of the third quarter to put the Monarchs up 11-4, but LaGrange was responsible for four of the next five scores, closing the gap to four goals (12-8). Scores by Chatt and Burnette extended Methodist's lead to six goals heading into the fourth quarter.
- The teams traded two goals each in the final frame, with Breeden and Horner posting goals for the home team. Methodist's Jackson Bulkin totaled five saves during the fourth period.
