FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. From start to finish, the Methodist men's soccer team dominated on Saturday, delivering a crushing defeat to the Warren Wilson Owls by a score of 10–0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With back–to–back goals, Josh Mott put the Monarchs up 2–0 within the first 15 minutes of play. A score by Mathias Navar inside the 42nd minute allowed Methodist to take a 3–0 lead into the locker room.
- Coming out of the halftime break, it took Matthew Manzano less than two minutes to find the back of the net, boosting the Monarch lead to four. In the 60th minute, Navar scored his second goal on the day, but he wasn't done yet. The sophomore found the back of the net yet again in the 68th minute, this time off a feed by Michael Iemma — his first assist as a Monarch.
- A corner kick in the 71st minute set Methodist up for its seventh goal of the game. Nathan Mahouchick kicked the ball to the close corner of the net, and Charles Drew jumped up to head the ball in for the score. In the 82nd minute, another Methodist corner ultimately led to another score, as Sean Laney put his foot on the loose ball and sent it whizzing in for the eight Monarch goal.
- Less than a minute after Methodist took the 8–0 lead, Tyler Aromin saw an opportunity, sending a long ball into the box and connecting with Antonia Rubino Zapata for goal No. 9.
- The Monarchs achieved the tenth goal in the final moments of the match, as Jayse Gleeson successfully converted a penalty kick with four seconds remaining on the clock.
NUMBERS
- Monarch newcomers were responsible for four goals and four assists on the outing, with Navar leading the way with his three–goal performance. Navar was a perfect 3-for-3 on his shot attempts.
- Methodist's defense was suffocating, allowing the Owls just five shot attempts all game.
