HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs started strong, earning an early 10–3 advantage. Jamie Holton, Savannah Hovander, Jeanana Fowler and Carlyn Tanis combined for 15 kills throughout the first set, helping Methodist cruise to a set win.
- The second set was shakier for Methodist. Tied 6–6, the Avenging Angels claimed 10 of the next 14 points to pull ahead by six. Services aces by Tanis and Jessie Gober helped the Monarchs claw back to within two (17–15), but Meredith stifled Methodist's momentum by winning eight of the final 11 points.
- The Avenging Angels pushed ahead in the third set, obtaining a 7–3 lead. Methodist tied the score at 8–8, but then trailed up until Fowler capped off a four–point run that put the Monarchs ahead 19–18. Methodist earned six of the final eight points — including three more kills by Fowler — to win the set.
- After a back–and–forth start to the fourth set, another four–point run for Methodist (with two Fowler kills) gave the Monarchs a 10–6 lead. Efforts by Meredith to retake the lead were futile, and Fowler recorded the final two kills for the Monarchs to win the match.
MORE TO IT
- The Monarchs managed to win in spite of their low offensive efficiency. Methodist's collective hitting percentage of .129 is the lowest in a single match so far this season and was slightly below Meredith's .135.

- Hannah Hewett and Jamie Holton posted double–doubles, with Hewett logging 42 assists and 20 digs while Holton recorded 14 kills and 11 digs.
- Carlyn Tanis and Jessie Gober each amassed four service aces against the Avenging Angels.
