BREVARD, N.C. The Methodist men's soccer team traveled to Brevard College on Saturday afternoon for a USA South matchup. After leading for most of the contest, the Monarchs were forced to settle for a 3–3 draw following a late Tornado equalizer at Ives-Lemel Family Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs wasted no time generating offense as junior Josh Mott fired four shots in the opening 12 minutes, including one on target. His persistence paid off in the 16th minute when a Brevard pass was intercepted near midfield. The ball got to junior Steven Floyd, who drove into the box and drew two defenders before feeding Mott, who buried a shot into the bottom right corner to put Methodist up 1–0.
- In the 27th minute, Mott struck again to double the lead. Floyd passed the ball out to the wing to junior Carson Stretz, who crossed to Mott for a one-timer from 10 yards out and his second goal of the day.
- Brevard quickly answered less than a minute later, as Maor Gavrilov launched a long pass into the box that deflected to Enrique Sosa, who placed his shot just inside the left post to cut the deficit to 2–1.
- Still trailing in the second half, the Tornados found the equalizer in the 71st minute on a set piece. Caue dos Santos served a free kick into the box, where Leonardo Zabeu headed it past the keeper to level the score at 2–2.
- Just one minute later, the Monarchs reclaimed the lead. Floyd, who had assisted on the previous two goals, took a through ball in stride for a one-on-one chance. His initial shot was stopped, but he followed up on the rebound and buried it for his fifth goal of the season, giving Methodist a 3–2 advantage.
- However, the dramatic ending belonged to Brevard. With only one second left on the clock, the Monarchs were called for a handball inside the box, setting up a penalty kick. Dos Santos converted from the spot to secure the 3–3 draw.
NUMBERS
- Mott recorded his second career multi-goal performance, leading the team with 12 shots, including three on target.
- Floyd tallied one goal and two assists for a four-point outing — his first career multi-assist match.
