Methodist Opens Play at Tartan Invitational in 10th Place

FARMINGTON, Pa.  The Methodist women's golf team returned to action on Monday, competing in the first round of the Tartan Invitational at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. The Monarchs carded a team score of 316 (+28), placing them 10th after day one.

OPENING ROUND
  • Junior Eva Denten paced the Monarchs with a career-low round of 71 (-1), tying for 11th place. Her card featured three birdies and steady play throughout, marking her lowest collegiate score to date.
  • Sophomore Cloe Rich sits tied for 44th after posting a 78 (+6). Rich recorded two birdies through her first 13 holes before running into late-round trouble, finding par just once over her final five.
  • Also tied for 44th is junior Anna Wicklum, competing as an individual. Wicklum fired a career-best 78 (+6), starting strong with three birdies in her first six holes before cooling off on the back half.
  • Senior Megan Kestner turned in a 10-over 82, tying for 58th. Kestner opened solidly with an early birdie to stay even through the first several holes but gradually slipped over the remainder of the round.
  • Senior Jenna Rutledge was the Monarchs' final scoring golfer, shooting an 85 (+13) to tie for 68th. She endured a difficult front nine at nine-over but steadied her play on the back, closing at four-over.
  • Rounding out the lineup, sophomore Paige Wilkinson carded an 86 (+14), tied for 70th. Wilkinson was one-over through her first eight holes and recorded a birdie during that stretch before encountering struggles down the stretch.

The Monarchs continue play at the Tartan Invitational on Tuesday, October 7, with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
