FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University celebrated Homecoming on Saturday with the football team hosting Brevard College in a USA South Athletic Conference bout. The Tornados quickly changed the festive mood in Monarch Stadium, as they defeated the Monarchs 47–20.
The game also served as Senior Day, with Methodist honoring its 20-member senior class.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist had a rough start, as Brevard intercepted a pass on the first play of the game inside the Monarchs' 30-yard line. Four plays later, Zion Fauntleroy-McDaniel gave the Tornados a 6-0 lead with a two-yard run, and the PAT made it 7-0.
- The score stayed the same through the first quarter as both sides fumbled and punted on the next several drives, until late in the second quarter. Brevard doubled its score, 14-0, on an Ethan Beamish four-yard pass to Reggie Taylor II to cap off a 12-play, 63-yard drive, chewing up seven minutes of clock. Then, a minute later, Jeremyah Lane returned a punt 50 yards for a touchdown, making the score 21-0.
- Lane made an impact again at the start of the second half, returning the kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. A missed PAT left the score at 27-0.
- On its first possession of the second half, Methodist introduced freshman quarterback Asa Windham. The St. George, South Carolina native impressed by leading a 12-play, 77-yard drive, which he capped with a three-yard rushing touchdown.
- Before the quarter was over, each side recorded an additional touchdown to make the score 34-13 heading into the final period. Brevard struck first with Beamish finding Adam Douglas on an eight-yard touchdown pass, followed by Kyan McCollum scoring for Methodist on a two-yard plunge.
- At the start of the fourth quarter, Beamish threw his third touchdown pass of the contest after connecting with Josh Quinn, then Darrius Billingsley scored on an 18-yard run to push the Tornados' lead to 47-13.
- The Monarchs recorded the final touchdown of the day, as Tyrone Atkinson Jr. was on the receiving end of a 16-yard pass from Windham.

- In just one half, Windham shone in his first collegiate appearance, completing 12 of 18 passes for 135 yards, while rushing for 38 more, and two touchdowns.
- Junior Toby Cates Jr. led all Methodist receivers with three catches and 45 receiving yards. For Atkinson Jr., the touchdown catch was his second of the season.
- Defensively, senior Darnell Alexander Jr. made a career-high four tackles, all solo. Fellow senior Omar Goodwin and sophomore Eli Jones were also tied with Alexander for the team lead in tackles.
