SALEM, N.C. Returning to USA South action by taking on Salem College, the Methodist women's basketball team earned a 10-point win away from home on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Spirits 51–41. All 10 Monarchs who appeared in the contest contributed to the team's points and rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a slow start to the game by both teams, the Monarchs scored seven of the final nine points of the first quarter (which included a three-pointer by
Giavonna Dunlap) to take a 14–8 lead.
Salem scored the first two baskets of the second quarter, but the Monarchs stretched out their lead by scoring 14 consecutive points across a four-minute span.
Korin Gladden fueled the run with eight points, while
Kayleen Grullon chipped in three assists, two steals and a bucket as well. Methodist's 16-point advantage shank to an eight-point edge by halftime though as the Spirits ended the final four minutes on an 8-0 run.
The third and fourth quarters were tight, but the Monarchs outscored the home team by one point in both periods on their way to a 10-point road victory. Solid defense aided the Monarchs in the second half as they forced the Spirits to shoot 7-for-33 from the field across the final 20 minutes.

Methodist had 37 points scored by players off the bench, which included a game-high 13 points for Gladden.
Jada Richardson pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds, topping her 14-rebound performance from less than a month ago versus Mary Baldwin University. In total, the Monarchs recorded 47 rebounds to Salem's 32.
Eva McRae led the team with a game-high three blocks, which matched her career best.
