Records: Methodist 1-2, Guilford 1-2
Location: Monarch Stadium; Fayetteville, North Carolina
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Guilford struck first on the scoreboard, scoring a goal just two minutes into the contest, but then Jack Murray recorded the first Methodist goal a minute later to tie it up. Both teams registered one more goal before the end of the opening quarter, which included the score by Logan Florio for the Monarchs, with four seconds left.
- Methodist was held scoreless in the second quarter, while the Quakers recorded four more goals to give them a 6–2 lead at the half.
- In the third quarter, Guilford scored the first goal after the restart to increase its advantage to 7–2. That ultimately would be the last goal by the Quakers as the Monarchs kept them off the scoreboard and registered eight consecutive unanswered goals. It started with Ryan Kavounis, Jay Legg, Florio, and J.R. Newman each scoring a goal for Methodist to get within one of Guilford's lead, 7–6, before the end of the third.
- After a second Kavounis goal to begin the fourth quarter, RJ Breeden registered the eventual game-winning Monarch's goal with eight minutes remaining. Two more insurance scores by Legg and Newman would seal the victory for Methodist.
