Multiple Monarchs Recorded New Personal Records at the Betty S. Rogers Invite

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.  On Sunday, the Methodist University track & field program was on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University to compete in the Betty S. Rogers Invitational.

TOP TRACK PERFORMANCES
  • One of best Methodist performers was senior Jack Barriger, who ran in the men's mile (4:33.28) and 5,000 meter (16:07.63). In both events, he registered a new personal record as well as placing first in the 5K.
  • In the men's 60m, Tydrick Stewart and Logan Wade each qualified for the final race after recording times of sub 7.1 seconds. They both improved on those times during the finals as Stewart (7.03) just edged out Wade (7.04) by .01 seconds, for sixth and seventh place, respectively.
  • Wade would get revenge on his teammate in the men's 200m, as he finished the sprint in a time of 22.75 seconds while Stewart ran a 22.97. For Wade, his times in 60m finals and 200m were two new PRs.
  • Junior Erykalyn Neal toppled two personal records in the women's 60m (8.48) and 200m (27.82). Also in the 60m, sophomore Imani Kee registered a new PR with a time of 8.66.
  • After qualifying for the finals of the women's 60m Hurdles, sophomore Katena Morrison finished in fifth with a time of 9.91 (PR).
  • Junior Logan Williams placed in the top three of the men's 1,000m after running a 2:52.14, a new PR.
TOP FIELD PERFORMANCES
  • Carland Jones and Komla Akogo were among the top five of the men's high jump, as Jones came in second with a vertical of 1.95m while Akogo claimed fourth with a jump of 1.85m.
  • In men's shot put, E'Manuel Herbert (12.04m) and Tristan Bowser (11.99m) cracked the top ten, while Alex Fritz placed in 11th with a personal record of 11.55m.
  • Herbert also came in tenth in the men's weight throw, after tossing a new personal record of 11.25m.
  • On the women's side of weight throw, senior Jordan Pecorella threw a personal record of 11.03m while coming in seventh place.
  • Junior Treazure Rosario Watson made the top five, fourth, in the women's triple jump, after recording a 10.69m leap (PR).
NEXT UP
Methodist will have one more tune-up meet before the USA South Indoor Championship, when the Monarchs take part in the JDL Last Chance Invitational on Saturday, February 22.
