FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist University men's lacrosse returned to USA South Athletic Conference action on Saturday, as the team welcomed Greensboro College to Monarch Stadium. By a score of 23–10, the Monarchs defeated the Pride to earn their first conference victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs wasted no time establishing their presence, netting three quick goals in the opening minutes. RJ Breeden found the back of the net first off an assist from Ryan Kavounis at the 13:15 mark, followed shortly by goals from Jacob Burnette and Graham Clausen. Greensboro (3-7, 1-1 USA South) fought back with a man-down goal by Justin Barry, but Methodist maintained control and held a 7-3 lead after the first quarter.
- The Methodist offense kept firing on all cylinders in the second quarter, as the Monarchs outscored the Pride 6-3 to take a 13–6 advantage. Following a Greensboro goal by DiMaggio Wilson, Methodist registered four straight scores to go up 11–4. The teams then exchanged goals during the last four minutes before halftime, two each.
- The Monarchs scored another seven goals in the third quarter to cement their victory against the Pride. Legg (4) and Logan Florio (2), both freshmen, accounted for six of the goals, while Nate Moore had the other score.
- Another trio of Monarch rookies finished off the scoring for Methodist, as Nick Spinola, Josh Crabtree, and Marcus Myers all scored. For Crabtree and Myers, their scores were their first-ever collegiate goals.
FAST FACTS
- Legg turned in a stellar performance, tallying five goals and three assists, bringing his point total to eight on the day. Burnette, Clausen, and N. Moore each registered hat tricks, while Florio and Kavounis added two goals apiece.
- Methodist outshot Greensboro 61 to 27, including 39 to 20 in shots on goal.
- With 54 ground balls, the Monarchs consistently maintained control of possession throughout the contest.
