HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist rattled off five goals in the first ten minutes of play, including a pair by RJ Breeden. Momentum shifted when the Pacers scored back–to–back goals within a span of 40 seconds. As the first quarter came to a close, William Peace's Quinn Acree beat the buzzer, pulling his team within two scores.
- A minute and a half into the second period, freshman LJ Oby forced a turnover and scooped up the ground ball at midfield. Realizing the William Peace goalkeeper was away from the net, Oby launched a rocket that sailed across the field for a highlight–reel score. Cy Horner and Jay Legg each scored twice in the quarter, while the Methodist defense held the Pacers to just one goal.
- The third quarter proved to be the lowest–scoring of the afternoon, with all four goals coming from the Monarchs. Methodist outscored William Peace 4–3 in the final frame, with freshman Jay Moore getting his first collegiate score.
