ROME, Ga.  Four Methodist student–athletes were recognized by the USA South earlier this week, earning Athlete of the Week accolades for their recent athletic achievements. Among the Monarchs honored were Ian Swanson, Tydrick Stewart, Treazure Rosario Watson and Matthew Hurley.

Earning his fourth Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week title, Swanson made one start during Methodist's weekend series versus Brevard College. The freshman right–hander went six innings, striking out seven batters (which matched his single–game career high). He conceded six hits and issued three walks, allowing three runs to score. Swanson was credited as the winning pitcher in the 13–4 victory.

Sprinting his way to the Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors, Stewart took second place in the 100–meter final at the UNC Pembroke Braves Classic. The sophomore finished in a personal–record time of 10.56 seconds, which at the time was the 17th–best mark in Division III so far this season. He also participated in the 4x100–meter relay.

After capturing first place in the triple jump at the UNC Pembroke Braves Classic, Rosario Watson has been named Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. She jumped a personal–record distance of 11.45 meters while also running in the 4x100–meter relay and the 4x400–meter relay.

For the fourth time this semester, Hurley has been named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The junior won both his singles matches from the No. 1 spot, defeating opponents from Southern Virginia University and Randolph College. In No. 1 doubles, he paired with Decklan Rayner for a 1–1 record on the week, beating the No. 1 duo from Southern Virginia.
