DeeDee Jarman was honored last Friday at the Kinston Community Center, earning induction into the Kinston–Lenoir County Sports Hall of Fame.
The Kinston-Lenoir County Sports Hall of Fame was established in 2004 and honors the outstanding sporting achievements of individuals from Lenoir County. Jarman was one of seven individuals included in the 2025 induction class.
Since 2017, Jarman has served as the Deputy Director of Athletics at Methodist, overseeing game day operations, working with the student–athlete advisory committee, and holding countless other responsibilities. She takes a large role in the highly successful Methodist University Athletics Hall of Fame golf tournament every summer, and annually leads the charge in hosting Play4Kay charity events on campus that financially benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation: Friends of the Cancer Center.
Prior to becoming the Deputy Director of Athletics, Jarman was the head women's basketball coach at Methodist while simultaneously serving as an administrator for many years. She began her MU career during the 1995–1996 academic year, serving as the assistant women's basketball coach under MU Athletics Hall–of–Famer Rita Wiggs.
As the head coach from 1997–2017, Jarman amassed 299 wins, making her the winningest head coach in the history of the Methodist women's basketball program. This past spring, she was recognized for 30 years of dedication to Methodist Athletics.
