Three Monarchs Named USA South Athletes of the Week

R0ME, Ga.  Three Methodist student-athletes were among the latest USA South Athletes of the Week, which the conference announced on Monday afternoon. Jarius Fajardo and Brooke Murrell both earned recognition for the second time this spring, while Jay Moore received his first weekly honor.
 
Fajardo was named Men's Field Rookie of the Week after two meets to start the outdoor season. At the UNCW Invitational, Fajardo recorded a personal-best mark of 2.02 meters in the high jump, taking first place out of 10 jumpers. At the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, he posted a mark of 1.93 meters in the high jump and a mark of 5.63 meters in the long jump.
 
Murrell was named Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week following a week in which she totaled 14 ground balls, 12 caused turnovers, nine draw controls, five goals and two assists in a 2–0 week for the Monarchs. She tallied six ground balls, six caused turnovers, six draw controls, four goals and one assist in a 20–0 win versus Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday. Against USA South opponent Southern Virginia University on Saturday, she recorded six caused turnovers, eight ground balls, three draw controls, one goal and one assist as Methodist claimed a 14–4 victory.
 
In a 2–0 week for the men's lacrosse team versus USA South foes, Moore earned the title of Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, totaling six caused turnovers, seven ground balls and two goals. In a come-from-behind, 12–10 road win over William Peace University, he collected four ground balls and four caused turnovers. In a 28–4 win against LaGrange College, he tallied three ground balls, caused two turnovers and scored a pair of goals.
