Methodist Wraps Up Final Meet Before Conference Championship

LYNCHBURG, Va.  Taking to the track one final time before the conference championship, the Methodist track & field teams continued to show progress on Saturday, with many athletes achieving career–best marks.

TOP MEN'S PERFORMERS
  • Tydrick Stewart captured fourth place in the 100–meter final, posting a time of 10.80 seconds. Jeremiah Freeman finished top–20 in the prelim round with a personal–record time of 11.27 seconds.
  • Freeman excelled in the triple jump, earning a first–place finish with a personal–best mark of 31.91 meters.
  • Stewart set a personal record in the 200–meter, taking fifth place with a time of 21.96 seconds.
  • In the 400–meter hurdles, Vondre Nelson set a new personal best with a time of 1:00.02. He claimed 16th out of 33 competitors.
  • Setting a personal record in the 800–meter, Rafael Shilengitha posted a time of 2:00:97.
  • Joseph Butler was the top Monarch in the discus throw, setting a personal best with a mark of 35.70 meters. Alex Fritz also set a new personal record at 33.42 meters.
  • Clearing a height of 1.95 meters, Carland Jones captured second out of 13 individuals in the high jump.
  • Ke Edwards leapt his way to fifth place in the long jump with a mark of 6.48 meters.
TOP WOMEN'S PERFORMERS
  • Treazure Rosario Watson shined once again in the 200–meter, claiming sixth place with a personal–record time of 25.69 seconds. She also finished in sixth in the 400–meter, finishing in 58.49 seconds.
  • In the triple jump, Rosario Watson reached new heights with a personal–best mark of 11.43 meters.
  • Rebecca McGaughnea took fifth place in the discus throw with a toss of 30.29 meters. Jordan Pecorella's throw of 22.71 was her personal best.
  • McGaughnea also stood out in the shot put with a personal–record throw of 10.34 meters that was good enough for fifth place out of 21 throwers.
UP NEXT
The Monarchs now turn their attention to the USA South Outdoor Track & Field Championships which will take place in Concord, North Carolina on April 25 and 26.
