BUENA VISTA, Va. Making a statement in the regular–season finale, the Methodist men's lacrosse team defeated Southern Virginia University on Saturday, earning a 23–15 road victory. It's the 10th win of the season for the Monarchs — the program's second most wins in a single season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist ran away with the first quarter, outscoring the Knights 9–1 through 15 minutes of play. Logan Florio recorded a hat trick during the period.
- Southern Virginia made up some ground in the second period, scoring five goals to Methodist's three. The Knights were able to fire 18 shots after being held to just four in the first period.
- Jay Legg scored the first goal of the second half on a man–up opportunity, but Southern Virginia countered with three consecutive scores to make it just a four–goal difference (13–9) halfway through the third quarter. The Monarchs produced a five–goal streak to reclaim the momentum, pulling ahead 18–9.
- A four–goal run for the Knights was met by another five–goal stretch for Methodist during the fourth quarter. The Monarchs reached a 10–goal margin before conceding two final scores to the home team.

- Leading the team with eight points, Logan Florio set career–highs with four goals and four assists.
- With three caused turnovers on the afternoon, Jake Bandler now sits at 111 in his career and becomes the USA South's record holder for caused turnovers in a career. He surpasses Michael Brown, who recorded 110 while playing for Southern Virginia from 2022–2024.
