Monarchs Conclude Season in USA South Championship Match

Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.  Making the USA South championship match for the first time in six years, the Methodist men's tennis team took on North Carolina Wesleyan University on Saturday morning. The Monarchs fought hard but were unable to prevent the Battling Bishops from winning their 16th consecutive tournament championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • North Carolina Wesleyan captured the doubles point after wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches. Cameron Roth and Drew Guarnieri fell 6–0 on the third court before Harry Crokam and Wills Belser were defeated 6–2 in the top match.
  • The first singles match to conclude was the No. 6 pairing, as Guarnieri suffered defeat in sets of 6–0 and 6–3. Crokam's match was next to finish; he battled fiercely in the first set before falling 6–4, then dropped the second set 6–1. The Battling Bishops got the final point they needed in the No. 5 match, where Christian Tihanovich was beaten in sets of 6–2 and 6–1.
MATCH POINT
This concludes the 2025 season for the Methodist men's tennis team. It was a historic year for the Monarchs who finished with 13 wins — the program's most since 2019.
