HICKORY, N.C. Seeking to improve their marks enough for qualification into the upcoming national meet, members of the Methodist track & field teams competed at Lenoir–Rhyne University on Saturday and Sunday.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Taking on the decathlon, Komla Akogo set personal records in five of his 10 events. He also matched or topped his season best in four of the other five events, which included a leap of 1.83 meters in the men's decathlon high jump that earned him a share of first place.
- Tristan Bowser's throw of 42.24 meters in the men's discus throw set a new personal best and earned him second place out of seven individuals.
- With a time of 59.31 seconds, Vondre Nelson recorded a personal record in the men's 400–meter hurdles.
- Rebecca McGaughnea took second place in the women's discus throw with a personal–best throw of 34.41 meters.
- Tydrick Stewart and Logan Wade both advanced to the 100–meter dash finals after scoring top–eight placements in the prelims. Stewart's time of 10.80 seconds tied for fifth–best in the final, while Wade's time of 10.82 placed seventh.

Methodist will field some entries into the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Wednesday, May 14, giving those individuals a final chance to improve their marks this season.
