GILBERT, Ariz. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced its 2025 Scholar–Athletes, recognizing seven Methodist student-athletes on the Division III men's tennis list. This year's honorees were
Matthew Hurley,
William Johnston,
Harry Crokam,
Ethan Carlyle,
Decklan Rayner,
Anton McCloskey and
Wills Belser. Additionally, the Methodist men's tennis team was honored as one of the ITA's All–Academic Teams.
To be recognized as a Scholar–Athlete, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.50 or greater during the 2024–2025 academic year. To be named an All–Academic Team, teams must have produced a team GPA of 3.2 or better.
In total, 1,115 Division III men's tennis athletes were named ITA Scholar–Athletes, while 135 teams garnered the All–Academic Team distinction.
For Hurley, Crokam and Belser, it's their second consecutive year earning the ITA's individual honor. In May, Crokam and Rayner were named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All–District team.
The Monarchs finished the 2025 season with a 13-7 record overall, a 5-1 mark against conference opponents during the regular season, and a trip to the championship match of the conference tournament. Hurley earned the title of USA South Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was named to the All–Conference First Team, while Crokam was one of two All–Conference second teamers for the Monarchs.
