HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Methodist's offense began slowly early on, with CNU pressing Methodist's defensive front in the opening ten minutes of play. • The Monarchs would fight back throughout the remainder of the first stanza, sending three shots in total towards the net. Junior Antonio Rubino Zapata ultimately connected for Methodist in the 45th minute off the sophomore Cannon Hunter's quick-paced throw-in to junior Cameron Lambert, who bicycle-kicked the touch pass to Rubino Zapata for the score, tying the clash 1-1.
  • Lambert and sophomore Gerard Bradley launched four out of the six Monarchs shot attempts to fend off the Captains defenders. The match would conclude at a draw, 1-1 at the 90th minute after senior Trey Gohr remained poised against a stout Christopher Newport team, snagging two saves off seven shots faced during the period.
