PINEHURST, N.C. After the opening round of the Centre College Classic, the Methodist women's golf team finds itself in fifth place out of 12 teams, while the Methodist 'B' squad sits in eighth.

OPENING ROUND – 'A' TEAM
- Cloe Rich had the best performance of any Monarch on Saturday, finishing the round in a tie for fourth place out of 66 golfers. She birdied par 3s on holes 7 and 9, along with par 5s on holes 11 and 18. Five bogeys brought her round score to one stroke over par.
- Eva Denten and Anna Wicklum finished the day tied for 21st at nine-over par. Denten birdied the last hole of the round to end on a high note. Wicklum played well on the back nine, recording par a team-best six times over the nine-hole stretch.
- Megan Kestner sits in 33rd at 12-over par following round one, while Jenna Rutledge trails by one stroke at 13-over par.
OPENING ROUND – 'B' TEAM
- Kiley Donovan had a solid afternoon that was weighed down by a triple bogey on hole 4. She was just two-over par on the back nine with five pars and a birdie on hole 15, finishing the day at +8 and in a tie for 19th.
- Rouyun Lim logged back-to-back birdies and sat at three strokes over par with six holes to go. A tough end to the round brought her score to +11.
- Paige Wilkinson sets tied with Kestner at +12. Jaycie Kate Lowery saw two birdies on the back nine but finished the round at 15-over par, while Julia Hashem ended the day 16 strokes over par. Hashem was much better across the back nine, recording five pars and four bogeys.
