PINEHURST, N.C. Shooting four strokes under par in the final round on Tuesday, the Methodist men's golf team held on to win the Tiger Invitational, beating out No. 1-ranked Huntingdon College by six strokes. The Monarchs finished the three-round tournament at -13 as a team with two individuals —
Haden Ruby and
Todd Moyer — tied for second at five strokes under par.
Beau Brewer also claimed a top-five finish at -4.

FINAL ROUND
- Ruby was flawless in the final round, sinking birdies on holes 5, 10, 13 and 18 for his best round out of the three.
- Moyer had the most birdies for Methodist on Tuesday with five, but he also carded three bogeys to make his final total for the round 70, tying his round-two total. He was the only Monarch to finish under par in all three rounds.
- Brewer and William Plageman both ended the round at one-over par. For Brewer, his day was spent making par after par, with his only other two outcomes being a birdie on hole 4 followed by an unfortunate double-bogey on hole 5. Plageman was more up and down, with a trio of birdies on holes 9, 10 and 11. After beginning his round on hole 3, he entered the final two holes at –2 before suffering a double-bogey and a bogey to end the day.
- Jonny Lewis was also the victim of a double-bogey, though he finished his day with a birdie on his final hole to lift his score to +3 for the round.
UP NEXT
Methodist is off until March 20, when the Monarchs take on the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational in Jekyll Island, Georgia. The tournament will be three days, from Friday until Sunday.
