JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. No. 9 Methodist men's golf opened play at the 2026 Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Friday, carding a four-under par 284 to sit in eighth place after the first round.

OPENING ROUND
- Senior Beau Brewer led the way for the Monarchs with a career-low five-under 67. His impressive round featured six birdies, placing him in a tie for seventh on the individual leaderboard.
- Sophomore William Plageman also turned in a solid performance, shooting a two-under 70 in his opening round. Matching Brewer with six birdies on the day, Plageman sits tied for 25th in the field.
- Junior Todd Moyer posted an even-par 72 and is currently tied for 47th. His round included three birdies to keep him steady throughout the day.
- Seniors Jonny Lewis and Haden Ruby each recorded rounds of three-over 75 and are tied for 85th. Lewis highlighted his scorecard with a birdie and an eagle, while Ruby added two birdies during his round.

Methodist returns to the course on Saturday, March 20, for the second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. The Monarchs are scheduled to tee off at 12:55 PM.
