BALTIMORE, Md. The Methodist men's tennis team picked up another victory during its spring break trip on Monday, defeating the Gophers of Goucher College 5–2 in non-conference play at the Evelyn Dyke Schroedl '62 Tennis Center.

Scott Handback had this to say about the team's performance.
"Today was another great day on our spring break trip," said Handback. "The guys just beat a second team in a row that made the NCAA Division III Tournament last year. I am very proud of this team."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist claimed the doubles point after winning two of the three flights. The top pair of Harry Crokam and Aaron Zoubek earned a 6–3 victory on court one, while Matthew Hurley and Decklan Rayner matched that score with a 6–3 win at the No. 2 position. On court three, the rookie tandem of Billy Johnson and Andrew Waddill fell 6–4.
- Hurley and Rayner were the first Monarchs to secure singles victories. Playing at the top flight, Hurley recorded a 6–2, 6–4 win, while Rayner followed with a straight-set victory of his own, winning 6–4, 6–4 at No. 4 singles.
- After dropping his doubles match, Waddill bounced back in singles play, earning a 6–3, 6–2 win on court five.
- The final point for the Monarchs came at No. 3 singles, where Zoubek battled to a 6–1, 7–6 (10–8) victory.
- Goucher avoided the shutout with wins at No. 6 and No. 2 singles. Methodist's Shea McCarthy fell 6–4, 6–3 on court six, while Crokam dropped a tightly contested match at No. 2 singles, 6–4, 3–6, 7–10 in a super tiebreaker.
