FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist men's tennis team defeated Johnson & Wales University - Charlotte and William Peace University by identical 7–0 scores to move to 10-5 on the season.
"This was a fun day for the guys," stated Head Coach
Scott Handback. "The guys on the two teams are great, and our players have good relationships with many of the players. We always enjoy playing these two teams. We have another battle next week that we need to start preparing for, so we have to get to work tomorrow."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first match of the day, the Monarchs swept the doubles against Johnson & Wales with Matthew Hurley and Decklan Rayner capturing No. 1 doubles 6–1, while Billy Johnson and Andrew Waddill won at No. 2 doubles 6–0. The Methodist No. 3 doubles team of Cameron Roth and Caio Lira were victorious in a hard-fought battle, 7-5.
- Methodist cruised to the team victory by winning each of the six singles matches in straight sets.
- In the second match of the day, Methodist lost only two games throughout the three doubles matches and the six singles matches, as each of the Monarchs' twelve players saw action in the matches.
