FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The Methodist women's lacrosse team hosted Piedmont University on Saturday afternoon and fell to the Lions, 19–7, in USA South play at Monarch Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Piedmont opened the contest with two quick goals before senior Layla Wiesenfeld put the Monarchs on the board, cutting the deficit to 2–1. The Lions then closed the opening quarter with three consecutive goals to take a 5–1 lead.
- Both teams traded goals early in the second quarter, but Piedmont found its offensive rhythm late in the period, scoring three more times to extend the advantage to 9–2 heading into halftime.
- The Monarchs battled in the third quarter, but the Lions continued to maintain control. Piedmont outscored Methodist 5–3 during the period to push the score to 14–4 entering the final frame.
- In the fourth quarter, the Lions added five more goals while holding Methodist to two, securing the 19–7 conference victory.
FAST FACTS
- Freshman Alana Rabon led the Monarch offense with three goals.
- Sophomore goalie Hailey Smith played the entire second half and recorded a career-high eight saves.
