Methodist Blanks N.C. Wesleyan; McKay Becomes Program’s Winningest Coach

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  The Methodist women's lacrosse team posted a strong showing in USA South action Tuesday evening, shutting out North Carolina Wesleyan University 22–0 inside Monarch Stadium.
 
With the victory, head coach Kirsten McKay became the all-time winningest coach in program history, reaching the milestone in just her third season at the helm.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite N.C. Wesleyan controlling the opening possession, Methodist quickly took the momentum and dominated the first quarter, outscoring the Battling Bishops 10–0. Freshman Abigail Fritzsche sparked the early surge with three goals in the period, while Alana Rabon and Layla Wiesenfeld each added two goals.
  • The Monarchs continued to build their advantage in the second quarter, adding five more goals to take a commanding 15–0 lead into halftime. Freshman Madison Sherry highlighted the period by recording her first collegiate goal.
  • Methodist maintained control after the break, adding seven more goals across the third and fourth quarters to complete the 22–0 shutout victory.
