Savannah Hovander's 1000th career kill, Methodist University women's volleyball continued competition in the Maroon Classic on Saturday afternoon against Roanoke College and St. Mary's College of Maryland inside of the Cregger Center, falling twice to the Maroons and Seahawks by a score of 3-1.
Final Score (Game One): Roanoke def. Methodist, 3-1 (26-24, 17-25, 28-30, 24-26)
Final Score (Game Two): St. Mary's (Md.) def. Methodist, 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 23-25, 18-25)

Match One (vs. Roanoke)
- Defensive miscues opened on both sides of the ball for the Maroons and the Monarchs, leading to back-and-forth runs for both squads. Key service aces created by sophomore Addison Johnson and last second kills by sophomore Grace Tillery would propel Methodist to snatch set one from Roanoke, 26-24.
- Olivia Horneman for Roanoke drove the Maroons to an early 4-0 run off establishing service aces. Methodist wasn't successful in creating offensive conversions, allowing Madison Jefferies for Roanoke to close out the set two win 25-17.
- The Monarchs fought hard for the set point in the third stanza, with Addison Johnson collecting two kills in the 6-0 late run, with freshman Harper Evans throwing the Maroons off guard with her serving outcomes. Methodist would fall in set three off late kills by Kaci Morrison for Roanoke for the Maroons to triumph 30-28.
- The Monarchs would begin the closing set with an early 4-0 run off kills by senior Savannah Hovander and sophomore Ashley Farman. Roanoke would connect in a late 7-0 run of their own off kills by Emma Catoe, Kaci Morrison, and Olivia Horneman closing the final chance for the Monarchs, resulting in the defeat 26-24 in set four, for a 3-1 match loss.
Match Two (vs. St. Mary's (Md.))
- Methodist would begin their afternoon matinee contest against the Seahawks with an early 5-0 run off sophomore Addison Johnson, disturbing the Seahawks offensive flow off her serve, with sophomore Grace Tillery and senior Savannah Hovander closing the Monarchs scoring stretch with a stretch of kills to push Methodist to an early 1-0 advantage on St. Mary's College of Maryland, 25-18.
- Erianna Mendiata, Maya Mauro, and Camilla Galeano each landed kills of their own for the Seahawks through 5-0 late scoring stretch, with Maya Mauro closing out the set two victory, 25-23 for the Seahawks.
- Addison Johnson and junior Kassidy Edge got in on the action with early kills in set three. Johnson and Hovander would propel the Monarchs in 4-0 run, before falling late off late kills by Maya Mauro for a 25-23 St. Mary's (Md.) victory.
- Set four concluded with an opening 6-0 run by the Seahawks before Faith Shockley and Maya Mauro closed the final stanza with an additional 6-0 run for a 25-18 Monarchs defeat.

- Savannah Hovander and Addison Johnson snagged 13 kills each with sophomore Grace Tillery landing 10 kills for Methodist against the Maroons. Savannah Hovander and Grace Tillery collected four blocks each versus Roanoke with freshman Harper Evans propelling Methodist to score off 20 assists.
- Hovander commanded the offense with 14 kills against the Seahawks, with three service aces. Evans beat out her top-assists total with 22 against St. Mary drove Methodist to score against the Seahawks defensive unit. Grace Tillery and Addison Johnson collected three blocks a piece defensively to close out the Monarchs final contest of the Maroon Classic.
- Hovander would land her 1000th kill early in set one against the St Mary's (Md.), dominating early so far this season offensively for Methodist.
