FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's golf team picked up a match against Morehead State Wednesday afternoon in preparation for the William & Mary Invitational this weekend. The Methodist varsity team finished first, four strokes ahead of Morehead State. The Gold team placed third just seven strokes off the lead.
Sara Dickson represented the gold team with a 79 to tie for the round low with two Eagles. Three Monarchs followed up in a tie for fourth with an 80.
Susan Martin,
Paige Caldwell, and
Gretchen McLean all shot 80 for the varsity while
Alana Swain shot an 84 and
Junko Suzuki finished with an 89 for the varsity team.
Kelsey Magnine and
Emily Jackson each finished with an 83 for the gold team while
Allyson Burak shot an 86 and
Holly Shupe shot a 93. Methodist had four other team members participating as individuals with
Darlene Roach and
Kaitlyn Sharpless leading the pack with an 89 each.
Jacquie Ponder shot a 95 and
Ashley Evanich finished at 101.
The Monarchs will travel to Williamsburg, Va. for the William & Mary Invitational Mar. 21-22.
