Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. - Methodist held an early 2-1 lead before the Greensboro Pride went on a seven goal run to take control and earn the 14-9 win.
Greensboro (4-5, 2-1) scored the first goal of the game, but Methodist freshman
Jasmine Stephens scored two straight to give the Monarchs (2-6, 1-1) the 2-1 lead. The Pride responded with six straight goals to close the first half with a 7-2 lead.
Ashley Nolen opened the second half with a goal for Greensboro, but Stephens stopped the run with a goal less than a minute later. Both teams exchanged goals for the next 15 minutes with
Andrea DiStefano and
Krystal Poirier adding goals for the Monarchs cutting the lead to 10-5 with 13:37 to go in the game. Greensboro scored three straight goals before
Amber Jurkovac scored for the Monarchs. The Pride added one more goal before Methodist finished the game with three goals of their own, but Greensboro held on for the 14-9 win.
Stephens finished with four goals while Jurkovac and DiStefano scored two a piece. Poirier scored a goal and added an assist.
Junior goalkeeper
Lindsey Cosgray finished with 15 saves for the Monarchs.
Methodist will host Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday at 1 pm.
