FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's tennis team battled with 23rd ranked N.C. Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon, but the Bishops took the 9-0 win.
Rob Schmidt and
Dylan Knox lost 8-3 at number two doubles and
Steve Burket and
Rob Currier lost 8-3 at number three.
Matt Taylor and
Justin Campbell were down 6-0 at number one before they won four straight games but lost 8-4 to the eighth ranked team in the region.
Taylor won his first set at number one singles but lost 5-7, 6-0, 6-3 to Antti Saari, the 15th ranked player in the region. Schmidt lost 6-3, 6-0 at number two and Knox lost 6-2, 6-3 at number three. Campbell lost 6-4, 6-0 at number four while
Brad Tulenko and
Sean Teeter lost 6-1, 6-1 at number five and six respectively.
The Monarchs will host Christopher Newport on Saturday at 2 pm in their final regular season match of the season.
