ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Methodist University volleyball team battled through four sets, but North Carolina Wesleyan finished with the 1-3 (25-27, 25-22, 23-25, 20-25) win.
The Monarchs found themselves in a hole early down 2-9, but came back to tie the set at 10. They took their first lead of the set at 16-15 and had a chance to win at 24-23, but the Bishops came back to finish with the 25-27 win.
Methodist came from behind in the second set to go up 10-9. They went ahead 22-19 before N.C. Wesleyan called a timeout. The Bishops came back within one point, but the Monarchs finished with the 25-22 win on a kill from freshman
Hayley Williams.
Both teams exchanged points through the third set with neither team taking a commanding lead. N.C. Wesleyan was ahead 22-23 when they called a timeout but finished up with the 23-25 win. The Bishops controlled the fourth set early on jumping out to a 7-16 lead. The Monarchs slowly started to chip away at the lead and moved within two points at 20-22. N.C. Wesleyan scored the next three points to win 20-25.

Stephanie Wood had a match-high 21 kills while sophomore
Jalesty Washington finished with 16. Sophomore
Kayci Miller dished out 43 assists with 11 digs. Senior libero
Jordan Grady led the team with 28 digs while sophomore
Kelsey Yates added 13.
The Monarchs will be back at home on Saturday when they host Christopher Newport and Ferrum in a USA South Quad Match. Support breast cancer awareness when the Monarchs "Dig Pink" during the Ferrum match at 6 pm.
