CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Methodist University track and field team beat the snow on Friday to compete at the Gene Anderson UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
On the women's side freshman
Ruby Blackwell led the sprinters with a 21st place finish in the 200 meters (26.73) and a 20th place finish in the 400 meters (1:01.69). She also jumped 4.36 meters to place 28th in the long jump and finished 23rd in the triple jump with a distance of 9.44 meters.
Junior
Kristyn Zeiler continued to break her own school records in both the 800 meters and the mile run. Zeiler finished 20th in the 800 meters finishing in 2:26.98 and placed fifth in the mile in 5:13.31.
Freshman
Stefan Johnson paced the men in the 55 meter dash running a personal best 7.09 seconds to place 21st. Senior
Cedric McGill was not far behind him in 7.12 seconds for 23rd place. Junior
Greg Bailey was Methodist's top finisher in the 200 meters finishing 24th in 23.28 seconds.
In the 400 meter dash, it was senior
Brandon Kidd pacing the Monarchs with a 25th place finish in 52.62 seconds. Senior
Keon Hannibal finished 29th in 53.00. Freshman
Lloyd Bronner ran the 800 meters in 2:03.10 to finish 27th and sophomore
Petros Bein qualified for the 60 meter hurdles finals with a time of 8.53 seconds. He finished eighth overall with a personal best 8.42 seconds.
Freshman
Pierson Singleton had two ninth place finishes in the long jump (6.42 m) and the triple jump (12.64 m) to lead the Monarchs in the field events.
Next Saturday, the Monarchs are scheduled to compete at the Mason Dixon Conference Championships.
