Box Score DECATUR, Ga. - The Methodist women's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season with a 22-14 conference victory over Agnes Scott College.
The Scotties scored the first two goals of the game to lead 2-0, but Methodist came back with five straight to take the 5-2 lead. Agnes Scott moved within one, but the Monarchs held the lead for the remainder of the period, taking an 11-9 advantage at halftime.
Jasmine Stephens and
Alexa Veeder opened up the second half with a goal a piece for the 13-9 lead. The Scotties tallied two quick goals, but Methodist came back with nine consecutive goals to build the 22-11 lead. Agnes Scott scored three goals late in the second half, but the Monarchs prevailed 22-14.
Stephens and Veeder finished with seven goals a piece for the Monarchs.
Amber Jurkovac,
Abby Harmon and
Brittany St. Jacques scored two a piece while
Kayleigh Sheets and
Kate Kaus added one a piece.
Lindsey Cosgray had 11 saves for the Monarchs and Mia Jacintho had 22 stops for the Scotties.
The Monarchs will take on LaGrange in a rescheduled game tomorrow (Sun.) at 11 a.m. after Friday was rained out.
