Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's lacrosse team struck first Friday afternoon, but Birmingham-Southern took control to earn the 20-6 victory.
Kate Kaus put the Monarchs on the board with a breakaway goal in the fourth minute of play to lead 1-0. The Panthers came back with six unanswered goals to take the 6-1 lead.
Jasmine Stephens stopped the run with a goal in the 17th minute, but Birmingham-Southern held the 10-2 lead at halftime.
Abby Harmon scored two goals in the second half while
Amber Jurkovac and
Brittany St. Jacques added one a piece, but it was not enough as the Panthers cruised to the 20-6 win.
Harmon led the Monarchs with two goals and two assists. Methodist goalkeeper
Lindsey Cosgray made 11 saves.
Chelsea Van Voorhis and Anna Barry scored four goals a piece for Birmingham-Southern.
Methodist looks forward to its USA South Athletic Conference clash with Shenandoah University on Sunday at 2 p.m.
