FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's tennis team picked up their first win of the season with a 6-3 defeat of Bridgewater College.

Matthew Taylor and Robert Clayton won 8-4 at number one doubles and Steven Burkett and Eric Smith won 8-1 at number two doubles. Steve Strawn and Ricky Aybar won 9-7 at number three.

Taylor took the 6-3, 6-4 win at number one singles and Warren Robinson won 6-3, 6-4 at number four to secure the Monarchs' win. Clayton lost 6-0, 6-0 at number two and Smith lost 6-4, 6-3 lost at number three. Burkett lost 6-1, 5-7 (10-4) at number five and Brad Tulenko won 6-3, 6-3 at number six.

The Monarchs will take the road this week to compete in a series of matches at Hilton Head, S.C.
