Box Score FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum took a 4-1 halftime lead and held on for the 8-5 win over the Methodist lacrosse team.
Methodist's
Jasmine Stephens grabbed the first draw of the game and drove down for the first goal in 19 seconds, but Ferrum came back and scored the next four goals to lead 4-1 at halftime.
Abby Harmon cut the lead to two with a goal in the first minute of the second half. Both teams traded goals with Stephens scoring her second goal, but the Panthers held the 6-3 lead. Stephens scored on a free position and then fed
Amber Jurkovac to move within one goal with 11:48 to play. Ferrum tallied the final two goals of the game to secure the 8-5 win.
Stephens led the Monarchs with three goals and an assist.
Lindsey Cosgray made six saves in goal.
Ferrum finished with three players scoring two goals a piece to pace the Panthers. Velena Taylor had five stops in goal.
The Monarchs will travel to N.C. Wesleyan Apr. 8 for a 4 p.m. start.
